Organization: Marriott Foundation for People with Disabilities
Grants: $411,475
Years: 1991, 1993, 2014-2016
In 1991, the Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation presented its very first grant to the Marriott Foundation for People with Disabilities and its newly formed Bridges from School to Work program.
Bridges from School to Work is an innovative program that works with employers in eight cities from coast to coast to place young adults with disabilities into inclusive, competitive jobs.
MEAF recently provided a new, three-year grant to Marriott for the Tackling Ticket to Work Initiative. The project provides seed funding for Bridges locations in Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, and Oakland to serve youth who are part of the Federal Ticket to Work program. Results from the program will be used to suggest modifications to the Federal Government to improve the program for youth entering the workforce.
Project Results
Since its founding over 20 years ago, Bridges from School to Work has worked with over 3,855 employers to find employment opportunities for more than 18,200 youth. Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation is proud to be among the first supporters of this model employment program that empowers young people with disabilities to live productive lives.
